I’m a ordinary mum who has been awoken from a deep sleep. A sleep that the marketing machines of cruel industries called factory farming induced. They wanted me to stay that way, believing in the propaganda about nutrition and relying on me never actually establishing any connection to what went in my mouth and what hell a living creature went through for my few minutes of satiation.
In 2012 I received the most amazing gift you could ever give anyone. The gift of insight, awareness & a good reminder (and kick up the backside) to remain compassionate to every living being regardless of species. The process of waking up was daunting and scary at times. It took time and a great support network to learn (and unlearn) what I have to this day, not only the horror but the empowering education that I needed to go Vegan. I went Vegan for me, my family, the planet and especially the animals. I wish I had done it sooner.
My husband and I went from meat-eaters to Vegan overnight. My husband looked into the eyes of a rescued bobby calf and never put anything in his mouth again from that point on that had any links to animal cruelty. We are learning fast and reaping the benefits that a cruelty-free healthy diet provides us; without the cholesterol and saturated fats we used to consume. Our children are being provided with Vegan choices and are proudly becoming a new generation who understand the connection between good food and cruel food.
I hope to provide some recipe inspiration and support to anyone looking to create healthy meals without sacrificing flavour. I have only been Vegan for a short time but I aim to bring delicious meat-free meals to the mainstream. I also will promote some amazing dishes that have helped me stay focussed on staying committed to veganism. Please remember I am not a nutritionist.
